Update, April 16, 2010

On April 12, 2010, National Grid awarded a contract for the remediation of the Glen Cove former Manufactured Gas Plant site to Posillico Environmental, Inc. of Farmingdale, New York (Posillico).  Posillico will be completing the excavation portion of the overall site remedy as described in the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation approved Remedial Action Plan.  National Grid has retained AECOM to provided Construction Management services during the remedial action.
 
Two-Week Outlook

National Grid and Posillico will be obtaining local permits and approval for the work over the next few weeks.  Posillico plans to mobilize to the site to begin construction in May 2010. 

National Grid will begin preparing the site for the remediation over the next two weeks.  The existing site fencing will be repaired and adjusted to surround the planned excavation.  A transmission pole located within the excavation boundary will be moved the week of May 3rd to outside of the excavation footprint.  The site, excavation boundary and new pole and overhead utility lines will be surveyed the week of May 10th. 
Community Air Monitoring will be mobilized to the site the week of May 3rd. 

General hours of operation during the remediation will be Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.  Heavy equipment will not be operated before 8:00 AM and work hours may be extended when necessary to maintain schedule or to complete critical tasks.  Extended work hours will be posted on this web site.
