The Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) previously installed a temporary utility pole outside of the excavation area. This pole will temporarily replace the one located within the excavation area once the cables are moved. This work will be undertaken in the near future.
The Phase I Remedial Action Work Plan has been finalized, and will soon be added to the project website where it can be viewed at any time by all interested parties.
Due to logistical constraints associated with the ongoing operations of the substation National Grid will postpone the remedial project work to this coming fall. National Grid intended to perform the remediation work prior to the peak summer demands on the substation, but the start of the work was delayed by logistical and scheduling issues. In order to ensure that customers’ power needs are met during the peak months, National Grid has elected to postpone remedial activities until early fall to minimize the possibility of impacts to the community.
